and she goes from him
and becomes another man’s wife,
will he return to her?
^dWould not that land be greatly polluted?
^eYou have played the whore with many lovers;
and would you return to me?

declares the Lord.
2 Lift up your eyes to ^fthe bare heights, and see!
Where have you not been ravished?
^gBy the waysides you have sat awaiting lovers
like an Arab in the wilderness.
^hYou have polluted the land
with your vile whoredom.

Ezekiel 23:35

35 Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because ⁱyou have forgotten me and ^jcast me behind your back, you yourself ^kmust bear the consequences of your lewdness and whoring.”

Ezekiel 23:45-49

45 But righteous men ^lshall pass judgment on them with the sentence of adulteresses, and with the sentence of women who shed blood, because they are adulteresses, and blood is on their hands.”

46 For thus says the Lord God: ^m“Bring up a vast host against them, and make them ⁿan object of terror and ^oa plunder. 47 ^pAnd the host shall stone them and cut them down with their swords. ^qThey shall kill their sons and their daughters, and ^rburn up their houses. 48 ^sThus will I put an end to lewdness in the land, that all women may take warning and not commit lewdness as you have done. 49 And they shall return your lewdness upon you, and ^tyou shall bear the penalty for your sinful idolatry, and ^uyou shall know that I am the Lord God.”

1 Rejoice not, O Israel!
Exult not like the peoples;
^vfor you have played the whore, forsaking your God.
^wYou have loved a prostitute’s wages
on all threshing floors.
