Numbers 8:22-26

22And after that the Levites went in to do their service in the tent of meeting before Aaron and his sons; as the Lord had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so they did to them.

Retirement of the Levites

23And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 24This applies to the Levites: afrom twenty-five years old and upward they

25And from the age of fifty years they shall withdraw from the duty of the service and serve no more. 26They minister

Numbers 18:6

6 eAnd behold, I have taken your brothers the Levites from among the people of Israel. fThey are a gift to you, given to the Lord, to do the service of the tent of meeting.

1 Chronicles 23:3-6

3The Levites, gthirty years old and upward, were numbered, and hthe total was i38,000 men. 4Twenty-four thousand of these,” David said,

1 Chronicles 23:26-32

26And so the Levites no longer need pto carry the tabernacle or any of the things for its service.” 27For by the last words of David the sons of Levi were numbered from qtwenty years old and upward. 28For their duty was to assist the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, having the care of the courts and the chambers, the cleansing of all that is holy, and any work for the service of the house of God. 29Their duty was also to assist with the rshowbread, the sflour for the grain offering, the wafers of unleavened bread, the tbaked offering, the uoffering mixed with oil, and all vmeasures of quantity or size. 30And they were to stand every morning, thanking and praising the Lord, and likewise at evening, 31and whenever burnt offerings were offered to the Lord won Sabbaths, xnew moons, and feast days, yaccording to the number required of them, regularly before the Lord. 32Thus zthey were to keep charge of the tent of meeting and the sanctuary, and to attend the sons of Aaron, their brothers, for the aaservice of the house of the Lord.
