Obadiah 16-17

16 aFor as you have drunk on bmy holy mountain,
so all the nations shall drink continually;
they shall drink and swallow,
and shall be as though they had never been.
17 cBut in Mount Zion there shall be those who escape,
and it shall be holy,
dand the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions.

Romans 11:1-7

The Remnant of Israel

1I ask, then, ehas God rejected his people? By no means! For fI myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham,
Or one of the offspring of Abraham
a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 hGod has not rejected his people whom he iforeknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel? 3 jLord, they have killed your prophets, they have demolished your altars, and I alone am left, and they seek my life.” 4But what is God’s reply to him? k“I have kept for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal.” 5So too at the present time there is la remnant, chosen by grace. 6 mBut if it is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise grace would no longer be grace.

7What then? nIsrael failed to obtain what it was seeking. The elect obtained it, but the rest owere hardened,

Romans 11:28-29

28As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are pbeloved for the sake of their forefathers. 29For the gifts and qthe calling of God are irrevocable.
