The Call of Wisdom

20 aWisdom cries aloud in the street,
in the markets she raises her voice;
21at the head of the noisy streets she cries out;
at bthe entrance of the city gates she speaks:
22“How long, O csimple ones, will you love being simple?
How long will dscoffers delight in their scoffing
and fools ehate knowledge?
23If you turn at my reproof,
Or Will you turn away at my reproof?

behold, I will gpour out my spirit to you;
I will make my words known to you.

Proverbs 8:1-5

The Blessings of Wisdom

1 Does not hwisdom call?
Does not iunderstanding raise her voice?
2On jthe heights beside the way,
at the crossroads she takes her stand;
3beside kthe gates in front of lthe town,
at the entrance of the portals she cries aloud:
4“To you, O mmen, I call,
and my cry is to nthe children of man.
5O osimple ones, learn pprudence;
O qfools, learn sense.

Proverbs 9:4-6

4 rWhoever is simple, let him turn in here!”
sTo him who lacks sense she says,
5Come, teat of my bread
and udrink of vthe wine I have mixed.
6Leave wyour simple ways,
Or  Leave the company of the simple
and ylive,
zand walk in the way of insight.”

Isaiah 55:1-3

The Compassion of the Lord

1 aaCome, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
abcome, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
2 acWhy do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
3Incline your ear, and come to me;
adhear, that your soul may live;
aeand I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
afmy steadfast, sure love for agDavid.

Isaiah 55:6-7

6 ahSeek the Lord while he may be found;
call upon him while he is near;
7let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts;
let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him,
and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Luke 14:21-24

21So the servant came and reported these things to his master. asnone of those men who were invited shall taste my banquet.’”
