Proverbs 1:24-31

24 aBecause I have called and byou refused to listen,
have cstretched out my hand and no one has heeded,
25because you have dignored all my counsel
and ewould have none of my reproof,
26I also fwill laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when gterror strikes you,
27when terror strikes you like ha storm
and your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
when distress and anguish come upon you.
28 iThen they will call upon me, but I will not answer;
they will seek me diligently but will not find me.
29Because they jhated knowledge
and kdid not choose the fear of the Lord,
30 lwould have none of my counsel
and mdespised all my reproof,
31therefore they shall eat nthe fruit of their way,
and have otheir fill of their own devices.

Isaiah 5:5-7

5 And now I will tell you
what I will do to my vineyard.
I will remove pits hedge,
and it shall be devoured;
Or grazed over; compare Exodus 22:5

rI will break down its wall,
and it shall be trampled down.
6I will make it a waste;
it shall not be pruned or hoed,
and sbriers and thorns shall grow up;
tI will also command the clouds
that they rain no rain upon it.
7 uFor the vineyard of the Lord of hosts
is the house of Israel,
and the men of Judah
are his pleasant planting;
and he looked for justice,
but behold, bloodshed;
The Hebrew words for  justice and  bloodshed sound alike

for righteousness,
but behold, an outcry!
The Hebrew words for  righteous and  outcry sound alike

Daniel 9:26-27

26And after the sixty-two weeks, an anointed one shall xbe cut off and shall have nothing. And the people of the prince who is to come yshall destroy the city and the sanctuary. zIts
Or His

27And he shall make a strong covenant with many for one week,
Or seven; twice in this verse
and for half of the week he shall put an end to sacrifice and offering. aeAnd on the wing of abominations shall come one who makes desolate, until afthe decreed end is poured out on the desolator.”

Zechariah 13:7-9

The Shepherd Struck

7 Awake, O sword, against agmy shepherd,
against the man who stands next to me,”

declares the Lord of hosts.
ahStrike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;
I will turn my hand against the little ones.
8In the whole land, declares the Lord,
two thirds shall be cut off and perish,
aiand one third shall be left alive.
9And ajI will put this third into the fire,
and refine them as one refines silver,
and test them as gold is tested.
akThey will call upon my name,
and alI will answer them.
amI will say, ‘They are my people’;
and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”

Matthew 3:9-12

9And do not presume to say to yourselves, an‘We have Abraham as our father,’ for I tell you, God is able from aothese stones to raise up children for Abraham. 10Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees. apEvery tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

11 aqI baptize you with water arfor repentance, but ashe who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you atwith the Holy Spirit and aufire. 12His avwinnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and awgather his wheat into the barn, axbut the chaff he will burn with ayunquenchable fire.”

Matthew 12:45

45Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there, and azthe last state of that person is worse than the first. So also will it be with this baevil generation.”
