Proverbs 15:8

8 aThe sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord,
but bthe prayer of the upright is acceptable to him.

Isaiah 1:11-23

11 cWhat to me is the multitude of your sacrifices?
says the Lord;
I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
and the fat of well-fed beasts;
I do not delight in the blood of bulls,
or of lambs, or of goats.
12 “When you come to dappear before me,
who has required of you
this trampling of my courts?
13Bring no more vain offerings;
incense is an abomination to me.
eNew moon and Sabbath and the fcalling of convocations
I cannot endure giniquity and hsolemn assembly.
14Your inew moons and your appointed feasts
my soul hates;
they have become a burden to me;
I am weary of bearing them.
15When you jspread out your hands,
I will hide my eyes from you;
keven though you make many prayers,
I will not listen;
lyour hands are full of blood.
16 mWash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes;
ncease to do evil,
17learn to do good;
oseek justice,
correct oppression;
pbring justice to the fatherless,
plead the widow’s cause.
18 Come now, qlet us reason
Or dispute
together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as swhite as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
19 tIf you are willing and obedient,
you shall eat the good of the land;
20but if you refuse and rebel,
you shall be eaten by the sword;
ufor the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

The Unfaithful City

21 How the faithful city
vhas become a whore,
Or  become unchaste

xshe who was full of justice!
Righteousness lodged in her,
but now murderers.
22 yYour silver has become dross,
your best wine mixed with water.
23Your princes are rebels
and companions of thieves.
Everyone zloves a bribe
and runs after gifts.
aaThey do not bring justice to the fatherless,
and the widow’s cause does not come to them.

Isaiah 66:3

3 ab“He who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a man;
he who sacrifices a lamb, like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
he who presents a grain offering, like one who offers acpig’s blood;
he who makes a memorial offering of frankincense, like one who blesses an idol.
adThese have chosen their own ways,
and their soul delights in their abominations;

Jeremiah 6:20

20 aeWhat use to me is affrankincense that comes from agSheba,
or sweet cane from a distant land?
ahYour burnt offerings are not acceptable,
nor your sacrifices pleasing to me.

Amos 5:21

21 ai“I hate, I despise your feasts,
and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
