The Rich Man and Lazarus

19There was a rich man who was clothed in fpurple and fine linen and gwho feasted sumptuously every day. 20And at his gate hwas laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, 21who desired to be fed with iwhat fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. 22The poor man died and was carried by jthe angels kto Abraham’s side.

Acts 24:24-27

24After some days Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, and he sent for Paul and heard him speak about pfaith qin Christ Jesus. 25And as he reasoned rabout righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, “Go away for the present. sWhen I get an opportunity I will summon you.” 26At the same time he hoped tthat money would be given him by Paul. So he sent for him often and conversed with him. 27When two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius uFestus. And vdesiring to do the Jews a favor, wFelix left Paul in prison.
