Luke 10:30-37

30Jesus replied, A man cwas going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him and departed, leaving him half dead. 31Now by chance a dpriest was going down that road, and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. 32So likewise ea Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33But a fSamaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was, and when he saw him, he had compassion. 34He went to him and gbound up his wounds, pouring on hoil and wine. Then he set him on his own animal and brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35And the next day he took out two idenarii
A  denarius was a day’s wage for a laborer
and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, ‘Take care of him, and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.’
36Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?” 37He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, You go, and do likewise.”

Acts 23:23-35

Paul Sent to Felix the Governor

23Then he called two of the centurions and said, “Get ready two hundred soldiers, with seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen to go as far as Caesarea at the third hour of the night.
That is, 9 p.m.
24Also provide mounts for Paul to ride and bring him safely to nFelix othe governor.” 25And he wrote a letter to this effect:

26Claudius Lysias, to phis Excellency the governor Felix, qgreetings. 27 rThis man was seized by the Jews and swas about to be killed by them twhen I came upon them with the soldiers and rescued him, uhaving learned that he was a Roman citizen. 28And vdesiring to know the charge for which they were accusing him, I brought him down to their council. 29I found that he was being accused wabout questions of their law, but xcharged with nothing deserving death or imprisonment. 30 yAnd when it was disclosed to me zthat there would be a plot against the man, I sent him to you at once, aaordering his accusers also to state before you what they have against him.”

31So the soldiers, according to their instructions, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris. 32And on the next day they returned to abthe barracks, letting the horsemen go on with him. 33When they had come to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they presented Paul also before him. 34On reading the letter, he asked what acprovince he was from. And when he learned adthat he was from Cilicia, 35he said, “I will give you a hearing aewhen your accusers arrive.” And he commanded him to be guarded in Herod’s afpraetorium.
