Proverbs 22:22-23

22 aDo not rob the poor, because he is poor,
or bcrush the afflicted at cthe gate,
23for dthe Lord will plead their cause
and rob of life those who rob them.

Amos 8:4-7

4 Hear this, eyou who trample on the needy
and bring the poor of the land to an end,
5saying, “When will fthe new moon be over,
that we may sell grain?
And gthe Sabbath,
that we may offer wheat for sale,
that we may make hthe ephah small and the shekel
An  ephah was about 3/5 bushel or 22 liters; a  shekel was about 2/5 ounce or 11 grams
great
and deal deceitfully with false balances,
6that we may buy the poor for jsilver
and the needy for a pair of sandals
and sell the chaff of the wheat?”
7 The Lord has sworn by kthe pride of Jacob:
“Surely lI will never forget any of their deeds.
