22 aCrush a fool in a mortar with a pestle
along with crushed grain,
yet his folly will not depart from him.

Isaiah 9:13

13 The people bdid not turn to him who struck them,
nor inquire of the Lord of hosts.

Jeremiah 8:5-6

5Why then has this people cturned away
in perpetual dbacksliding?
eThey hold fast to deceit;
they refuse to return.
6 fI have paid attention and listened,
but they have not spoken rightly;
no man relents of his evil,
saying, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone turns to his own course,
glike a horse plunging headlong into battle.

Jeremiah 25:5-7

5saying, hTurn now, every one of you, ifrom his evil way and evil deeds, and jdwell upon the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers from of old and forever. 6 kDo not go after other gods to serve and worship them, lor provoke me to anger mwith the work of your hands. Then I will do you no harm.’ 7 nYet you have not listened to me, declares the Lord, othat you might provoke me to anger pwith the work of your hands to your own harm.

Jeremiah 35:15-17

15I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, sending them qpersistently, saying, rTurn now every one of you from his evil way, and amend your deeds, and sdo not go after other gods to serve them, and then you shall dwell in the land that I gave to you and your fathers.’ tBut you did not incline your ear or listen to me. 16The sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have kept the command that their father gave them, but this people has not obeyed me. 17Therefore, thus says the Lord, the God of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing upon Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the disaster that I have pronounced against them, ubecause I have spoken to them and they have not listened, vI have called to them and they have not answered.”

Hosea 6:1

for xhe has torn us, that he may heal us;
he has struck us down, and yhe will bind us up.

Hosea 7:7

7All of them are hot as an oven,
and they devour their rulers.
All ztheir kings aahave fallen,
and none of them calls upon me.

Amos 4:6-13

Israel Has Not Returned to the Lord

6 “I gave you cleanness of teeth in all your cities,
and ablack of bread in all your places,
acyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
7 I also adwithheld the rain from you
when there were yet three months to the harvest;
aeI would send rain on one city,
and send no rain on another city;
one field would have rain,
and the field on which it did not rain would wither;
8so two or three cities afwould wander to another city
to drink water, and would not be satisfied;
agyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
9 ah“I struck you with blight and mildew;
your many gardens and your vineyards,
your fig trees and your olive trees aithe locust devoured;
ajyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
10 “I sent among you a pestilence akafter the manner of Egypt;
I killed your young men with the sword,
and alcarried away your horses,
Hebrew along with the captivity of your horses

and anI made the stench of your camp go up into your nostrils;
aoyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
11 “I overthrew some of you,
apas when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah,
and you were aqas a brand
That is,  a burning stick
plucked out of the burning;
asyet you did not return to me,”

declares the Lord.
12 Therefore thus I will do to you, O Israel;
because I will do this to you,
prepare to meet your God, O Israel!”
13 For behold, athe who forms the mountains and creates the wind,
and audeclares to man what is his thought,
avwho makes the morning darkness,
and awtreads on the heights of the earth
axthe Lord, the God of hosts, is his name!
