Psalms 1

The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked

1 Blessed is the man
The singular Hebrew word for  man (ish) is used here to portray a representative example of a godly person; see Preface

who bwalks not in cthe counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in dthe way of sinners,
nor esits in fthe seat of gscoffers;
2but his hdelight is in the law
Or instruction
of the Lord,
and on his jlaw he meditates day and night.
3 He is like ka tree
planted by lstreams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its mleaf does not wither.
nIn all that he does, he prospers.
4The wicked are not so,
but are like ochaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked pwill not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in qthe congregation of the righteous;
6for the Lord rknows sthe way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Psalms 24

The King of Glory

A Psalm of David.

1 tThe earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof,

2for he has vfounded it upon wthe seas

3 xWho shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his yholy place?
4 zHe who has aaclean hands and aba pure heart,
who does not aclift up his soul to adwhat is false
and does not swear deceitfully.
5He will receive aeblessing from the Lord
and afrighteousness from agthe God of his salvation.
6Such is ahthe generation of those who seek him,
