1 Blessed is the man
The singular Hebrew word for  man (ish) is used here to portray a representative example of a godly person; see Preface

who bwalks not in cthe counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in dthe way of sinners,
nor esits in fthe seat of gscoffers;

Psalms 69:12

12I am the talk of those who hsit in the gate,
and the drunkards make isongs about me.

Proverbs 13:20

20Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
but the companion of fools will suffer harm.

Proverbs 23:29-35

29 jWho has woe? Who has sorrow?
Who has strife? Who has complaining?
Who has kwounds without cause?
Who has lredness of eyes?
30Those who mtarry long over wine;
those who go to try nmixed wine.
31Do not look at wine when it is red,
when it sparkles in the cup
and goes down smoothly.
32In the end it obites like a serpent
and stings like an adder.
33Your eyes will see strange things,
and your heart utter pperverse things.
34You will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea,
like one who lies on the top of a mast.

4They drank wine and upraised the vgods of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.

Daniel 5:23

23but you have lifted up yourself against wthe Lord of heaven.
