Psalms 103

Bless the Lord, O My Soul

Of David.

1 aBless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 bBless the Lord, O my soul,
and cforget not all his benefits,
3who dforgives all your iniquity,
who eheals all your diseases,
4who fredeems your life from the pit,
who gcrowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5who hsatisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like ithe eagle’s.
6 The Lord works jrighteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7He made known his kways to Moses,
his lacts to the people of Israel.
8The Lord is mmerciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 nHe will not always chide,
nor will he okeep his anger forever.
10He does not deal with us paccording to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11For qas high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his rsteadfast love toward sthose who fear him;
12as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he tremove our transgressions from us.
13As ua father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion vto those who fear him.
14For he knows our frame;
Or  knows how we are formed

he xremembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like ygrass;
he flourishes like za flower of the field;
16for aathe wind passes over it, and abit is gone,
and acits place knows it no more.
17But adthe steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on aethose who fear him,
and his righteousness to afchildren’s children,
18to those who agkeep his covenant
and ahremember to do his commandments.
19The Lord has aiestablished his throne in the heavens,
and his ajkingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, O you akhis angels,
you almighty ones who amdo his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
21Bless the Lord, all his anhosts,
his aoministers, who do his will!
22 apBless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
aqBless the Lord, O my soul!

Psalms 104

O Lord My God, You Are Very Great

1 arBless the Lord, O my soul!
O Lord my God, you are asvery great!
atYou are clothed with splendor and majesty,
2covering yourself with light as with a garment,
austretching out the heavens avlike a tent.
3He awlays the beams of his axchambers on the waters;
he makes aythe clouds his chariot;
he rides on azthe wings of the wind;
4he bamakes his messengers winds,
his bbministers bca flaming fire.
5 He bdset the earth on its foundations,
so that it should never be moved.
6You becovered it with the deep as with a garment;
the waters stood above the mountains.
7At bfyour rebuke they fled;
at bgthe sound of your thunder they bhtook to flight.
8The mountains rose, the valleys sank down
to the place that you biappointed for them.
9You set bja boundary that they may not pass,
so that they bkmight not again cover the earth.
10 You make springs gush forth in the valleys;
they flow between the hills;
11they blgive drink to every beast of the field;
the wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell;
they sing among the branches.
13 bmFrom your lofty abode you bnwater the mountains;
the earth is satisfied with the fruit of your work.
14 You cause bothe grass to grow for the livestock
and bpplants for man to cultivate,
that he may bring forth bqfood from the earth
15and brwine to gladden the heart of man,
bsoil to make his face shine
and bread to btstrengthen man’s heart.
16 The trees of the Lord are watered abundantly,
buthe cedars of Lebanon bvthat he planted.
17In them the birds build their nests;
the stork has her home in the fir trees.
18The high mountains are for bwthe wild goats;
the rocks are a refuge for bxthe rock badgers.
19 He made the moon to mark the byseasons;
Or  the appointed times (compare Genesis 1:14)

the sun knows its time for setting.
20 caYou make darkness, and it is night,
when all the beasts of the forest creep about.
21 cbThe young lions roar for their prey,
seeking their food from God.
22When the sun rises, they steal away
and lie down in their ccdens.
23 cdMan goes out to his work
and to his labor until the evening.
24 O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In cewisdom have you made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.
25Here is the sea, great and wide,
cfwhich teems with creatures innumerable,
living things both small and great.
26There go the ships,
and cgLeviathan, which you formed to chplay in it.
Or  you formed to play with

27 These cjall look to you,
to ckgive them their food in due season.
28When you give it to them, they gather it up;
when you clopen your hand, they are filled with good things.
29When you cmhide your face, they are cndismayed;
when you cotake away their breath, they die
and cpreturn to their dust.
30When you cqsend forth your Spirit,
Or breath
they are created,
and you csrenew the face of the ground.
31 May the glory of the Lord ctendure forever;
may the Lord curejoice in his works,
32who looks on the earth and it cvtrembles,
who cwtouches the mountains and they smoke!
33I will sing to the Lord cxas long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
34May my cymeditation be pleasing to him,
for I rejoice in the Lord.
35Let czsinners be consumed from the earth,
and let the wicked be no more!
daBless the Lord, O my soul!
dbPraise the Lord!
