and also twith him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit,
uto revive the spirit of the lowly,
and to revive the heart of the contrite.
16 vFor I will not contend forever,
nor will I always be angry;
for the spirit would grow faint before me,
and the breath of life that I made.
17Because of the iniquity of his wunjust gain I was angry,
I struck him; I hid my face and was angry,
but he went on backsliding in the way of his own heart.
18I have seen his ways, xbut I will heal him;
I will lead him yand restore comfort to him and his mourners,

Isaiah 61:1-3

The Year of the Lord’s Favor

1 zThe Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has aaanointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
Or afflicted

he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and acthe opening of the prison to those who are bound;
Or  the opening [of the eyes] to those who are blind; Septuagint  and recovery of sight to the blind

2 aeto proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,
afand the day of vengeance of our God;
to comfort all who mourn;
3to grant to those who mourn in Zion
agto give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes,
ahthe oil of gladness instead of mourning,
the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit;
aithat they may be called oaks of righteousness,
the planting of the Lord, ajthat he may be glorified.
Or  that he may display his beauty

Isaiah 66:2

2 alAll these things my hand has made,
and so all these things came to be,

declares the Lord.
amBut this is the one to whom I will look:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit
and trembles at my word.
