to cut off his fugitives;

The Day of the Lord Is Near

15 For zthe day of the Lord is near upon all the nations.
aaAs you have done, it shall be done to you;
your deeds shall return on your own head.
16 abFor as you have drunk on acmy holy mountain,
so all the nations shall drink continually;
they shall drink and swallow,
and shall be as though they had never been.

The siege of Jerusalem amwill also be against Judah. 3 anOn that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. aoAll who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And apall the nations of the earth will gather against it. 4 aqOn that day, declares the Lord, arI will strike every horse aswith panic, and its rider atwith madness. But for the sake of the house of Judah I will keep my eyes open, when I strike every horse of the peoples auwith blindness.
