and the land was ^dpolluted with blood.
39 Thus they ^ebecame unclean by their acts,
and ^fplayed the whore in their deeds.

Jeremiah 3:1-2

Ezekiel 7:20-24

20 ⁿHis beautiful ornament they used for pride, and ^othey made their abominable images and their detestable things of it. Therefore ^pI make it an unclean thing to them. 21 And I will give it into the hands of ^qforeigners for prey, ^rand to the wicked of the earth for spoil, and ^sthey shall profane it. 22 I will turn my face from them, and ^tthey shall profane my treasured ^{▼▼Or secret} place. They have oppressed the poor and needy, and ^avhave extorted from the sojourner without justice. 30 ^awAnd I sought for a man among them ^axwho should build up the wall ^ayand stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none. 31 Therefore ^azI have poured out my indignation upon them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have returned ^batheir way upon their heads, declares the Lord God.”
