Psalms 149:7-9

7to execute vengeance on the nations

8to bind their kings with echains
and their nobles with fetters of iron,

gThis is honor for all his godly ones.
hPraise the Lord!

Isaiah 24:21-23

21 On that day the Lord will punish
the host of heaven, in heaven,
and ithe kings of the earth, on the earth.
22 jThey will be gathered together
as prisoners in a pit;
they will be shut up in a prison,
and after many days kthey will be punished.
23 lThen the moon will be confounded
and the sun ashamed,
for mthe Lord of hosts reigns
on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem,
and his glory will be before his elders.

Isaiah 34:2-17

2For the Lord is enraged against all the nations,
and furious against all their host;
he has ndevoted them to destruction,
That is, set apart ( devoted) as an offering to the Lord (for destruction); also verse 5
has given them over for slaughter.
3Their slain shall be cast out,
and pthe stench of their corpses shall rise;
qthe mountains shall flow with their blood.
4 rAll the host of heaven shall rot away,
and the skies roll up like a scroll.
All their host shall fall,
as leaves fall from the vine,
like leaves falling from the fig tree.
5 For my sword has drunk its fill in the heavens;
behold, it descends for judgment upon sEdom,
upon the people tI have devoted to destruction.
6The Lord has a sword; it is sated with blood;
it is gorged with fat,
with the blood of lambs and goats,
with the fat of the kidneys of rams.
uFor the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah,
a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7 vWild oxen shall wfall with them,
and xyoung steers with ythe mighty bulls.
Their land shall drink its fill of blood,
and their soil shall be gorged with fat.
8 zFor the Lord has a day of vengeance,
a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
9 aaAnd the streams of Edom
Hebrew her streams
shall be turned into pitch,
and her soil into sulfur;
her land shall become burning pitch.
10Night and day acit shall not be quenched;
adits smoke shall go up forever.
aeFrom generation to generation it shall lie waste;
none shall pass through it forever and ever.
11 afBut the hawk and the porcupine
The identity of the animals rendered  hawk and  porcupine is uncertain
shall possess it,
the owl and the raven shall dwell in it.
ahHe shall stretch the line of aiconfusion
Hebrew formlessness
over it,
and the plumb line of emptiness.
12Its nobles—there is no one there to call it a kingdom,
and all its princes shall be nothing.
13 akThorns shall grow over its strongholds,
nettles and thistles in its fortresses.
It shall be the haunt of aljackals,
an abode for ostriches.
Or owls

14 anAnd wild animals shall meet with hyenas;
the wild goat shall cry to his fellow;
indeed, there the night bird

settles
and finds for herself a resting place.
15 There the owl nests and lays
and hatches and gathers her young in her shadow;
indeed, there apthe hawks are gathered,
each one with her mate.
16Seek and read from the book of the Lord:
Not one of these shall be missing;
none shall be without her mate.
For the mouth of the Lord has commanded,
and his Spirit has gathered them.
17 aqHe has cast the lot for them;
his hand has portioned it out to them with the line;
they shall possess it forever;
from generation to generation they shall dwell in it.

Jeremiah 25:15-29

The Cup of the Lord’s Wrath

15Thus the Lord, the God of Israel, said to me: arTake from my hand this cup of the wine of wrath, and make all the nations to whom I send you drink it. 16They shall drink and stagger and be crazed because of asthe sword that I am sending among them.”

17So I took the cup from the Lord’s hand, atand made all the nations to whom the Lord sent me drink it: 18 auJerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and officials, avto make them a desolation and a waste, a hissing and a curse, as at this day; 19 awPharaoh king of Egypt, his servants, his officials, all his people, 20and axall the mixed tribes among them; all the kings of aythe land of Uz and all the kings of azthe land of the Philistines ( baAshkelon, bbGaza, Ekron, and the remnant of bcAshdod); 21 bdEdom, beMoab, and the sons of bfAmmon; 22all the kings of bgTyre, all the kings of bhSidon, and the kings of the coastland across bithe sea; 23 bjDedan, bkTema, blBuz, and all who cut bmthe corners of their hair; 24all the bnkings of Arabia and all the kings of bothe mixed tribes who dwell in the desert; 25all the kings of Zimri, all the kings of bpElam, and all the kings of bqMedia; 26all the kings of brthe north, far and near, one after another, and all the kingdoms of the world that are on the face of the earth. And after them the king of bsBabylon
Hebrew Sheshach, a code name for Babylon
shall drink.

27“Then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: buDrink, be drunk and vomit, fall and rise no more, because of bvthe sword that I am sending among you.’

28“And if they refuse to accept the cup from your hand to drink, then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: bwYou must drink! 29For behold, bxI begin to work disaster at the city that is called by my name, and shall you go unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, byfor I am summoning a sword against all the inhabitants of the earth, declares the Lord of hosts.’

Ezekiel 29:12

12 bzAnd I will make the land of Egypt a desolation in the midst of desolated countries, and her cities shall be a desolation forty years among cities that are laid waste. caI will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and disperse them through the countries.
