Psalms 119:67

67 aBefore I was afflicted I went astray,
but now I keep your word.

Psalms 119:71

71It is bgood for me that I was afflicted,
that I might learn your statutes.

Psalms 126:5-6

5 cThose who sow in tears
shall reap with shouts of joy!
6He who goes out weeping,
bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
bringing his sheaves with him.

Jeremiah 31:8-9

8Behold, I will bring them dfrom the north country
and egather them from fthe farthest parts of the earth,
among them gthe blind and the lame,
the pregnant woman and she who is in labor, together;
a great company, they shall return here.
9 hWith weeping they shall come,
iand with pleas for mercy I will lead them back,
I will make them jwalk by brooks of water,
kin a straight path in which they shall not stumble,
for lI am a father to Israel,
and Ephraim is mmy firstborn.

Jeremiah 31:15-20

15 Thus says the Lord:
n“A voice is heard in oRamah,
lamentation and bitter weeping.
pRachel is weeping for her children;
she refuses to be comforted for her children,
qbecause they are no more.”
16 Thus says the Lord:
Keep your voice from weeping,
and your eyes from tears,
for there is a reward for your work,

declares the Lord,
and rthey shall come back from the land of the enemy.
17 sThere is hope for your future,

declares the Lord,
and your children shall come back to their own country.
18I have heard tEphraim grieving,
‘You have disciplined me, and I was disciplined,
like an untrained calf;
ubring me back that I may be restored,
for you are the Lord my God.
19For after vI had turned away, I relented,
and after I was instructed, wI struck my thigh;
xI was ashamed, and I was confounded,
because I bore the disgrace of my youth.’
20 yIs Ephraim my dear son?
zIs he my darling child?
For as often as I speak against him,
I do remember him still.
aaTherefore my heart
Hebrew bowels
yearns for him;
I will surely have mercy on him,

declares the Lord.

Jeremiah 50:4-5

4 ac“In those days and in that time, declares the Lord, adthe people of Israel and the people of Judah shall come together, aeweeping as they come, and they afshall seek the Lord their God. 5 agThey shall ask the way to Zion, with faces turned toward it, ahsaying, ‘Come, let us join ourselves to the Lord in an aieverlasting covenant that will never be forgotten.’

Daniel 9:3-19

3Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by ajprayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. 4I prayed to the Lord my God and akmade confession, saying, alO Lord, the amgreat and awesome God, who ankeeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 5 aowe have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly apand rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. 6 aqWe have not listened to aryour servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to asour kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 7To you, atO Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, authose who are near and avthose who are far away, in awall the lands to which you have driven them, because of axthe treachery that they have committed against you. 8To us, O Lord, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because aywe have sinned against you. 9 azTo the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him 10 baand have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by bbhis servants the prophets. 11 bcAll Israel has transgressed your law and turned aside, bdrefusing to obey your voice. beAnd the curse and oath bfthat are written in the Law of bgMoses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because bhwe have sinned against him. 12He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against biour rulers who ruled us,
Or  our judges who judged us
by bkbringing upon us a great calamity. blFor under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what has been done against Jerusalem.
13 bmAs it is written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has come upon us; yet we have not entreated the favor of the Lord our God, bnturning from our iniquities and gaining insight by your truth. 14 boTherefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, bpfor the Lord our God is righteous in all the works that he has done, and bqwe have not obeyed his voice. 15And now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt brwith a mighty hand, and bshave made a name for yourself, as at this day, btwe have sinned, we have done wickedly.

16“O Lord, buaccording to all your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from your city Jerusalem, bvyour holy hill, bwbecause for our sins, and for bxthe iniquities of our fathers, byJerusalem and your people have become bza byword among all who are around us. 17Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord,
Hebrew  for the Lord’s sake
cbmake your face to shine upon ccyour sanctuary, which is desolate.
18 cdO my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see ceour desolations, and cfthe city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. 19O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. cgDelay not, chfor your own sake, O my God, because ciyour city and cjyour people are called by your name.”
