Psalms 119:75

75I know, O Lord, that your rules are arighteous,
and that in bfaithfulness you have afflicted me.

Lamentations 3:32-33

32but, though he ccause grief, dhe will have compassion
eaccording to the abundance of his steadfast love;
33 ffor he does not afflict from his heart
or ggrieve the children of men.

Hebrews 12:7-11

7It is for discipline that you have to endure. hGod is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8If you are left without discipline, iin which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to jthe Father of spirits kand live? 10For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, lthat we may share his holiness. 11 mFor the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields nthe peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

1 Peter 1:7
