Psalms 120

Deliver Me, O Lord

A Song of aAscents.

1 In my distress I called to the Lord,
and he answered me.
2Deliver me, O Lord,
from lying lips,
from a deceitful tongue.
3 What shall be given to you,
band what more shall be done to you,
you deceitful tongue?
4 cA warrior’s dsharp arrows,
with glowing ecoals of the broom tree!
5 Woe to me, that I sojourn in fMeshech,
that I dwell among gthe tents of hKedar!
6Too long have I had my dwelling
among those who hate peace.
7 iI am for peace,
but when I speak, they are for war!

My Soul Waits for the Lord

A Song of jAscents.

1 Out of kthe depths I cry to you, O Lord!
2O Lord, hear my voice!
lLet your ears be attentive
to mthe voice of my pleas for mercy!
3 If you, O Lord, should nmark iniquities,
O Lord, who could ostand?
4But with you there is pforgiveness,
qthat you may be feared.
5 I rwait for the Lord, smy soul waits,
and tin his word I hope;
6my soul uwaits for the Lord
more than vwatchmen for wthe morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.
7 O Israel, xhope in the Lord!
For ywith the Lord there is steadfast love,
and with him is plentiful redemption.
8And he will zredeem Israel
from all his iniquities.
