Wisdom from Above

13Who is wise and understanding among you? gBy his good conduct let him show his works hin the meekness of wisdom. 14But if you have bitter ijealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15This is not jthe wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, kdemonic. 16For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17But lthe wisdom from above is first pure, then mpeaceable, gentle, open to reason, nfull of mercy and good fruits, oimpartial and psincere. 18And qa harvest of righteousness ris sown in peace by those who make peace.

1 Peter 3:8-12

Suffering for Righteousness’ Sake

8Finally, all of you, shave unity of mind, sympathy, tbrotherly love, ua tender heart, and va humble mind. 9 wDo not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, xbless, for yto this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing. 10For

z“Whoever desires to love life
and see good days,
let him keep his tongue from evil
and his lips from speaking deceit;
11let him turn away from evil and do good;
let him seek peace and pursue it.
12For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are open to their prayer.
But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”
