Psalms 13

How Long, O Lord?

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

1 aHow long, O Lord? Will you bforget me forever?
How long will you chide your face from me?
2How long must I take dcounsel in my soul
and have sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?
3 eConsider and answer me, O Lord my God;
flight up my eyes, lest gI sleep the sleep of death,
4 hlest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”
lest my foes rejoice because I am ishaken.
5 But I have jtrusted in your steadfast love;
my heart shall krejoice in your salvation.
6I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Psalms 83

O God, Do Not Keep Silence

A Song. A Psalm of lAsaph.

1 O God, do not keep silence;
mdo not hold your peace or be still, O God!
2For behold, your enemies nmake an uproar;
those who hate you have oraised their heads.
3They lay pcrafty plans against your people;
they consult together against your qtreasured ones.
4They say, “Come, rlet us wipe them out as a nation;
let the name of Israel be remembered no more!”
5For they conspire with one accord;
against you they make a covenant
6the tents of sEdom and tthe Ishmaelites,
uMoab and vthe Hagrites,
7 wGebal and xAmmon and yAmalek,
zPhilistia with the inhabitants of aaTyre;
8 abAsshur also has joined them;
they are the strong arm of acthe children of Lot.  Selah
9 Do to them as you did to adMidian,
as to aeSisera and Jabin at afthe river Kishon,
10who were destroyed at agEn-dor,
who became ahdung for the ground.
11Make their nobles like aiOreb and Zeeb,
all their princes like ajZebah and Zalmunna,
12who said, ak“Let us take possession for ourselves
of the pastures of God.”
13 O my God, make them like alwhirling dust,
Or  like a tumbleweed

like anchaff before the wind.
14As aofire consumes the forest,
as the flame apsets the mountains ablaze,
15so may you pursue them aqwith your tempest
and terrify them with your hurricane!
16 arFill their faces with shame,
that they may seek your name, O Lord.
17Let them be asput to shame and dismayed forever;
let them perish in disgrace,
18that they may atknow that you alone,
auwhose name is the Lord,
are avthe Most High over all the earth.
