29 dSummon archers against Babylon, all those who bend the bow. eEncamp around her; let no one escape. fRepay her according to her deeds; do to her according to all that she has done. For she has gproudly defied the Lord, the Holy One of Israel. 30 hTherefore her young men shall fall in her squares, and all her soldiers shall be destroyed on that day, declares the Lord.

31 Behold, I am against you, O iproud one,
declares the Lord God of hosts,
jfor your day has come,
the time when I will punish you.
32 kThe proud one shall stumble and fall,
with none to raise him up,
land I will kindle a fire in his cities,
and it will devour all that is around him.
33Thus says the Lord of hosts: mThe people of Israel are oppressed, and the people of Judah with them. All who took them captive have held them fast; nthey refuse to let them go. 34 oTheir Redeemer is strong; pthe Lord of hosts is his name. qHe will surely plead their cause, that he may give rest to the earth, but unrest to the inhabitants of Babylon.

and you saints and bdapostles and prophets,
for beGod has given judgment for you against her!”
21Then bfa mighty angel bgtook up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying,

So will Babylon bhthe great city be thrown down with violence,
and will be found no more;
22and bithe sound of harpists and musicians, of flute players and trumpeters,
will be heard in you no more,
and a craftsman of any craft
will be found in you no more,
and bjthe sound of the mill
will be heard in you no more,
23and the light of a lamp

and bkthe voice of bridegroom and bride
