Psalms 17:8-14

8 Keep me as ethe apple of your eye;
hide me in fthe shadow of your wings,
9from the wicked who do me violence,
my deadly enemies who gsurround me.
10 hThey close their hearts to pity;
with their mouths they ispeak arrogantly.
11They have now surrounded our jsteps;
they set their eyes to kcast us to the ground.
12He is like a lion eager to tear,
as a young lion llurking in ambush.
13 Arise, O Lord! Confront him, subdue him!
Deliver my soul from the wicked by your sword,
14from men by your hand, O Lord,
from mmen of the world whose nportion is in this life.
Or  from men whose portion in life is of the world

You fill their womb with treasure;
Or As for your treasured ones, you fill their womb

they are satisfied with qchildren,
and they leave their abundance to their infants.

The Lord Surrounds His People

A Song of uAscents.

1 Those who vtrust in the Lord are like Mount Zion,
which wcannot be moved, but abides forever.
2As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so xthe Lord surrounds his people,
from this time forth and forevermore.
3For ythe scepter of wickedness shall not zrest
on aathe land allotted to the righteous,
lest the righteous abstretch out
their hands to do wrong.

Romans 8:35-39

35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36As it is written,

ac“For your sake adwe are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37No, in all these things we are more than aeconquerors through afhim who loved us. 38For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
