Psalms 19

The Law of the Lord Is Perfect

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

1 aThe heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above
Hebrew  the expanse; compare Genesis 1:6–8
proclaims his handiwork.
2Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 cTheir dvoice
Or  Their measuring line
goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for fthe sun,
5 gwhich comes out like ha bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 iThe law of the Lord is perfect,
Or blameless

kreviving the soul;
lthe testimony of the Lord is msure,
nmaking wise othe simple;
8 pthe precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is qpure,
renlightening the eyes;
9the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules
Or just decrees
of the Lord are ttrue,
and righteous altogether.
10More to be desired are they than ugold,
even much vfine gold;
wsweeter also than honey
and drippings of xthe honeycomb.
11Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
yin keeping them there is great reward.
12 zWho can discern his errors?
aaDeclare me innocent from abhidden faults.
13 acKeep back your servant also from adpresumptuous sins;
let them not have aedominion over me!
Then I shall be blameless,
and innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my afrock and my agredeemer.

Psalms 77

In the Day of Trouble I Seek the Lord

To the choirmaster: according to ahJeduthun. A Psalm of aiAsaph.

1 I ajcry aloud to God,
aloud to God, and he will hear me.
2 akIn the day of my trouble I seek the Lord;
in althe night my amhand is stretched out without wearying;
my soul anrefuses to be comforted.
3When I remember God, I aomoan;
when I meditate, my spirit faints.  Selah
4 You hold my eyelids open;
I am so aptroubled that I cannot speak.
5I consider aqthe days of old,
the years long ago.
6I said,
Hebrew lacks  I said
“Let me remember my assong in the night;
let me atmeditate in my heart.”
Then my spirit made a diligent search:
7“Will the Lord auspurn forever,
and never again avbe favorable?
8Has his steadfast love forever ceased?
Are his awpromises at an end for all time?
9 axHas God forgotten to be gracious?
ayHas he in anger shut up his compassion?”  Selah
10 Then I said, “I will appeal to this,
to the years of the azright hand of the Most High.”
Or This is my grief: that the right hand of the Most High has changed

11 I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will bbremember your wonders of old.
12I will ponder all your bcwork,
and meditate on your bdmighty deeds.
13Your way, O God, is beholy.
bfWhat god is great like our God?
14You are the God who bgworks wonders;
you have bhmade known your might among the peoples.
15You biwith your arm redeemed your people,
the children of Jacob and Joseph.  Selah
16 When bjthe waters saw you, O God,
when the waters saw you, they were afraid;
indeed, the deep trembled.
17The clouds poured out water;
the skies bkgave forth thunder;
your blarrows flashed on every side.
18 bmThe crash of your thunder was in the whirlwind;
bnyour lightnings lighted up the world;
the earth botrembled and shook.
19Your bpway was through the sea,
your path through the great waters;
yet your footprints bqwere unseen.
