The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed

1 aWhy do bthe nations rage
Or  nations noisily assemble

and the peoples plot in vain?
2The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his dAnointed, saying,
3“Let us eburst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who fsits in the heavens glaughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
5Then he will speak to them in his hwrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6“As for me, I have iset my King
on jZion, my kholy hill.”
7 I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, l“You are my Son;
today I have begotten you.
8Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and mthe ends of the earth your possession.
9You shall nbreak

10 Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
11 rServe the Lord with sfear,
and trejoice with utrembling.

lest he be angry, and you perish in the way,
for his xwrath is quickly kindled.
yBlessed are all who take refuge in him.

He Will Tread Down Our Foes

1 O God, aeyou have rejected us, afbroken our defenses;
you have been angry; agoh, restore us.
2You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open;
ahrepair its breaches, for it totters.
3 aiYou have made your people see hard things;
ajyou have given us akwine to drink that made us stagger.
4 You have set up ala banner for those who fear you,
that they may flee to it amfrom the bow.

5 aoThat your apbeloved ones may be delivered,
give salvation by your right hand and answer us!
6 God has spoken aqin his holiness:

“With exultation asI will divide up atShechem
and portion out the Vale of auSuccoth.
7 avGilead is mine; Manasseh is mine;
awEphraim is axmy helmet;
Judah is my ayscepter.
8 azMoab is my washbasin;
upon Edom I bacast my shoe;
over bbPhilistia I shout in triumph.”
