1 aWhy do bthe nations rage
Or  nations noisily assemble

and the peoples plot in vain?
2The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his dAnointed, saying,

The meaning of the Hebrew word  Selah, used frequently in the Psalms, is uncertain. It may be a musical or liturgical direction

Psalms 22:11-13

11Be not jfar from me,
for trouble is near,
and there is knone to help.
12 Many bulls encompass me;
lstrong bulls of mBashan surround me;
13they nopen wide their mouths at me,
like a ravening and roaring lion.
