The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed

1 aWhy do bthe nations rage
Or  nations noisily assemble

and the peoples plot in vain?
2The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his dAnointed, saying,
3“Let us eburst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who fsits in the heavens glaughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
5Then he will speak to them in his hwrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,

Matthew 21:38

38But when the tenants saw the son, they said to themselves, iThis is the heir. Come, jlet us kill him and have his inheritance.’

Matthew 21:45-46

45When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them. 46And kalthough they were seeking to arrest him, lthey feared the crowds, because they held him to be ma prophet.

3 nThen the chief priests and the elders of the people gathered in othe palace of the high priest, whose name was pCaiaphas, 4 qand plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him. 5But they said, “Not during the feast, rlest there be an uproar among the people.”

47 sAnd he was teaching daily in the temple. tThe chief priests and the scribes and the principal men of the people were seeking to destroy him, 48but they did not find anything they could do, for all the people were hanging on his words.

19 uThe scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him at that very hour, for they perceived that he had told this parable against them, but they feared the people.

John 11:47-53

For this man performs many signs. 48If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and ythe Romans will come and take away both our zplace and our nation.” 49But one of them, aaCaiaphas, abwho was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all. 50Nor do you understand that acit is better for you that one man should die for the people, not that the whole nation should perish.” 51He did not say this of his own accord, but adbeing high priest that year aehe prophesied that Jesus would die for the nation, 52and afnot for the nation only, but also agto gather into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53So from that day on they ahmade plans to put him to death.

John 11:57

57Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, he should let them know, so that they might arrest him.
