Psalms 2:1-8

The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed

1 aWhy do bthe nations rage
Or  nations noisily assemble

and the peoples plot in vain?
2The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his dAnointed, saying,
3“Let us eburst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who fsits in the heavens glaughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
5Then he will speak to them in his hwrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6“As for me, I have iset my King
on jZion, my kholy hill.”
7 I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, l“You are my Son;
today I have begotten you.
8Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and mthe ends of the earth your possession.

Acts 10:36-42

36As for bcthe word that he sent to Israel, bdpreaching good news of bepeace through Jesus Christ ( bfhe is Lord of all), 37you yourselves know what happened throughout all Judea, bgbeginning bhfrom Galilee after the baptism that John proclaimed: 38how biGod anointed Jesus of Nazareth bjwith the Holy Spirit and with bkpower. He went about doing good and healing all blwho were oppressed by the devil, bmfor God was with him. 39And bnwe are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. boThey put him to death by hanging him on a tree, 40but bpGod raised him on bqthe third day and made him to brappear, 41 bsnot to all the people but to us who had been chosen by God as btwitnesses, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42And buhe commanded us to preach to the people and to testify bvthat he is the one appointed by God to be judge bwof the living and the dead.
