Psalms 2:1-9

The Reign of the Lord’s Anointed

1 aWhy do bthe nations rage
Or  nations noisily assemble

and the peoples plot in vain?
2The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his dAnointed, saying,
3“Let us eburst their bonds apart
and cast away their cords from us.”
4 He who fsits in the heavens glaughs;
the Lord holds them in derision.
5Then he will speak to them in his hwrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
6“As for me, I have iset my King
on jZion, my kholy hill.”
7 I will tell of the decree:
The Lord said to me, l“You are my Son;
today I have begotten you.
8Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and mthe ends of the earth your possession.
9You shall nbreak

9You will make them as sa blazing oven
when you appear.
The Lord will swallow them up in his twrath,
and ufire will consume them.
10You vwill destroy their wdescendants from the earth,
and their offspring from among the children of man.
11Though they plan evil against you,

may alanother take his amoffice!
9May his anchildren be fatherless
and his wife a widow!
10May his children aowander about and beg,

11May aqthe creditor seize all that he has;
may arstrangers plunder the fruits of his toil!
12Let there be none to asextend kindness to him,
nor any to atpity his fatherless children!
13May his auposterity be cut off;
may his avname be blotted out in the second generation!
14May awthe iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the Lord,
and let not the sin of his mother be axblotted out!
15 ayLet them be before the Lord continually,
that he may azcut off the memory of them from the earth!
16 For he did not remember to show kindness,
but pursued bathe poor and needy
and bbthe brokenhearted, to put them to death.
17 bcHe loved to curse; let curses come
Revocalization; Masoretic Text curses have come

20May this be the reward of my biaccusers from the Lord,
of those who speak evil against my life!
