1 ^aMy God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so ^bfar from saving me, from the words of my ^cgroaning?
2 O my God, I cry by ^dday, but you do not answer,
and by night, but I find no rest.
3 Yet you are ^eholy,
^fenthroned on ^gthe praises ^{▼▼Or dwelling in the praises} of Israel.
4 In you our fathers trusted;
they trusted, and you delivered them.
5 To you they ⁱcried and were rescued;
in you they ^jtrusted and were not put to shame.
6 But I am ^ka worm and not a man,
^lscorned by mankind and ^mdespised by the people.
7 All who see me ⁿmock me;
they make mouths at me; they ^owag their heads;
8 ^p“He trusts in the Lord; let him ^qdeliver him;
let him rescue him, for he ^rdelights in him!”
9 Yet you are he who ^stook me from the womb;
you made me trust you at my mother’s breasts.
10 On you was I cast from my birth,
and from ^tmy mother’s womb you have been my God.
11 Be not ^ufar from me,
for trouble is near,
and there is ^vnone to help.
12 Many bulls encompass me;
^wstrong bulls of ^xBashan surround me;
13 they ^yopen wide their mouths at me,
like a ravening and roaring lion.
14 I am ^zpoured out like water,
and all my bones are ^aaout of joint;
my ^abheart is like ^acwax;
it is melted within my breast;
15 my strength is ^addried up like a potsherd,
and my ^aetongue sticks to my jaws;
you lay me in the dust of death.
16 For ^afdogs encompass me;
a company of evildoers ^agencircles me;

17 I can count all my bones—
they ^ajstare and gloat over me;
18 ^akthey divide my garments among them,
and for my clothing they cast lots.
19 But you, O Lord, ^aldo not be far off!
O you my help, ^amcome quickly to my aid!
20 Deliver my soul from the sword,
my precious life from the power of ^anthe dog!
21 Save me from ^aothe mouth of the lion!
You have rescued ^{▼▼Hebrew answered} me from the horns of ^aqthe wild oxen!
22 ^arI will tell of your name to my ^asbrothers;
in the midst of the congregation I will praise you:
23 You who ^atfear the Lord, praise him!
All you offspring of Jacob, ^auglorify him,
and stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel!
24 For he has not despised or abhorred
the affliction of ^avthe afflicted,
and he has not ^awhidden his face from him,
but has heard, when he ^axcried to him.
25 From you comes my praise in the great ^aycongregation;
my ^azvows I will ^baperform before those who fear him.
26 ^bbThe afflicted ^{▼▼Or The meek} shall ^bdeat and be satisfied;
those who seek him shall praise the Lord!
May your hearts ^belive forever!
27 All ^bfthe ends of the earth shall remember
and turn to the Lord,
and all ^bgthe families of the nations
shall worship before you.
28 For ^bhkingship belongs to the Lord,
and he rules over the nations.
29 All ^bithe prosperous of the earth eat and worship;
before him shall ^bjbow all who go down to the dust,
even the one who could not ^bkkeep himself alive.
30 Posterity shall serve him;
it shall be told of the Lord to the coming ^blgeneration;
31 they shall ^bmcome and proclaim his righteousness to a people yet ^bnunborn,
that he has done it.

Sit at My Right Hand

A Psalm of David.

1 ^boThe Lord says to my Lord:
^bp“Sit at my right hand,
^bquntil I make your enemies your ^brfootstool.”
2 The Lord sends forth ^bsfrom Zion
^btyour mighty scepter.
^buRule in the midst of your enemies!
3 ^bvYour people will ^bwoffer themselves freely
on the day of your ^bxpower, ^{▼▼Or on the day you lead your forces}
in ^bzholy garments; ^{▼▼Masoretic Text; some Hebrew manuscripts and Jerome on the holy mountains}
from the womb of the morning,
the dew of your youth will be yours. ^{▼▼The meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain}
4 ^ccThe Lord has ^cdsworn
and will ^cenot change his mind,
^cf“You are ^cga priest ^chforever
after the order of ^ciMelchizedek.”
5 The Lord is at your ^cjright hand;
he will ^ckshatter kings on ^clthe day of his wrath.
6 He will ^cmexecute judgment among the nations,
^cnfilling them with corpses;
he will ^coshatter chiefs ^{▼▼Or the head}
over the wide earth.
7 He will ^cqdrink from the brook by the way;
therefore he will lift up his head.
