Psalms 22:1

Why Have You Forsaken Me?

To the choirmaster: according to The Doe of the Dawn. A Psalm of David.

1 ^aMy God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
Why are you so ^bfar from saving me, from the words of my ^cgroaning?

Isaiah 53:2-3

2 For he grew up before him like a young plant,
^dand like a root out of dry ground;
^ehe had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
and no beauty that we should desire him.
3 ^fHe was despised and rejected ^{▼▼Or forsaken} by men,
a man of sorrows, ^{▼▼Or pains; also verse 4} and acquainted with ^{▼▼Or and knowing} grief; ^{▼▼Or sickness; also verse 4}
and as one from whom men hide their faces ^{▼▼Or as one who hides his face from us}
he was despised, and ^lwe esteemed him not.

Isaiah 53:7-9

7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
^myet he opened not his mouth;
ⁿlike a ^olamb that is led to the slaughter,
and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so he opened not his mouth.
8 By oppression and judgment he was taken away;
and as for his generation, ^pwho considered
that he was cut off out of the land of the living,
stricken for the transgression of my people?
9 And they made his grave with the wicked
^qand with a rich man in his death,
although ^rhe had done no violence,
and there was no deceit in his mouth.

Isaiah 53:12

12 ^sTherefore I will divide him a portion with the many, ^{▼▼Or with the great}
^uand he shall divide the spoil with the strong, ^{▼▼Or with the numerous}
because he poured out his soul to death
and was numbered with the transgressors;
^wyet he bore the sin of many,
and makes intercession for the transgressors.
