Psalms 22:6-8

6 But I am aa worm and not a man,
bscorned by mankind and cdespised by the people.
7All who see me dmock me;
they make mouths at me; they ewag their heads;
8 f“He trusts in the Lord; let him gdeliver him;

Matthew 27:27-44

Jesus Is Mocked

27 qThen the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the rgovernor’s headquarters,
Greek  the praetorium
and they gathered the whole tbattalion
Greek cohort; a tenth of a Roman legion, usually about 600 men
before him.
28And they stripped him and put va scarlet robe on him, 29and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they wmocked him, saying, “Hail, xKing of the Jews!” 30And ythey spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head. 31And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and zled him away to crucify him.

The Crucifixion

32 aa, abAs they went out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name. They compelled this man to accarry his cross. 33 adAnd when they came to a place called Golgotha (which means Place of a Skull), 34 aethey offered him wine to drink, mixed with afgall, but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. 35And when they had crucified him, agthey divided his garments among them by casting lots. 36Then they sat down and ahkept watch over him there. 37And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, aithe King of the Jews.” 38Then two ajrobbers were crucified with him, akone on the right and one on the left. 39And althose who passed by amderided him, anwagging their heads 40and saying, ao“You who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save yourself! apIf you are aqthe Son of God, come down from the cross.” 41So also the chief priests, with the scribes and elders, mocked him, saying, 42 ar“He saved others; ashe cannot save himself. atHe is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. 43 auHe trusts in God; let God deliver him now, if he desires him. For he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44 avAnd the robbers who were crucified with him also reviled him in the same way.

Mark 14:65

65 awAnd some began axto spit on him and ayto cover his face and to strike him, saying to him, “Prophesy!” And the guards received him azwith blows.

Mark 15:17-20

17And they clothed him in baa purple cloak, and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on him. 18And they began to salute him, bbHail, King of the Jews!” 19And they were striking his head with a reed and bcspitting on him and bdkneeling down in homage to him. 20And when they had bemocked him, they stripped him of bfthe purple cloak and put his own clothes on him. And they bgled him out to crucify him.

Mark 15:29-31

29And bhthose who passed by derided him, biwagging their heads and saying, bjAha! bkYou who would destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, 30save yourself, and come down from the cross!” 31So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another, saying, bl“He saved others; bmhe cannot save himself.
