Ecclesiastes 7:2-4

2It is better to go to the house of mourning
than to go to the house of feasting,
for this is the end of all mankind,
and the living will clay it to heart.
3Sorrow is better than laughter,
dfor by sadness of face the heart is made glad.
4The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,
but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

Isaiah 22:12-14

12 In that day ethe Lord God of hosts
called for weeping and mourning,
for fbaldness and gwearing sackcloth;
13and behold, joy and gladness,
killing oxen and slaughtering sheep,
eating flesh and drinking wine.
h“Let us eat and drink,
for tomorrow we die.”
14The Lord of hosts ihas revealed himself in my ears:
“Surely jthis iniquity will not be atoned for you kuntil you die,”
says the Lord God of hosts.

Jeremiah 15:17

17 lI did not sit in the company of revelers,
nor did I rejoice;
mI sat alone, because your hand was upon me,
for you had filled me with indignation.

Amos 6:4-6

4 “Woe to those nwho lie on obeds of ivory
pand stretch themselves out on their couches,
and eat lambs from the flock
qand calves from the midst of the stall,
5 rwho sing idle songs to the sound of the harp
and like David sinvent for themselves instruments of music,

but are not grieved over the ruin of Joseph!
