Psalms 30:11-12

11 You have turned for me my mourning into adancing;
you have loosed my sackcloth
and clothed me with gladness,
12that my bglory may sing your praise and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever!

Psalms 107:17-22

17 Some were cfools through their sinful ways,
and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;
18 dthey loathed any kind of food,
and they edrew near to fthe gates of death.
19 gThen they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
20He hsent out his word and ihealed them,
and jdelivered them from their destruction.
21 kLet them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
22And let them loffer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and mtell of his deeds in nsongs of joy!

Psalms 116:1-4

I Love the Lord

1 I olove the Lord, because he has pheard
my voice and my pleas for mercy.
2Because he qinclined his ear to me,
therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
3 rThe snares of death encompassed me;
the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
I suffered distress and anguish.
4Then sI called on the name of the Lord:
“O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!”

Psalms 118:18-19

18The Lord has tdisciplined me severely,
but he has not given me over to death.
19 uOpen to me the gates of righteousness,
that I may enter through them
and give thanks to the Lord.

Jonah 2:1-9

Jonah’s Prayer

1Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, 2saying,

v“I called out to the Lord, out of my distress,
and he answered me;
wout of the belly of Sheol I cried,
xand you heard my voice.
3 yFor you cast me into the deep,
into the heart of the seas,
and the flood surrounded me;
zall your waves and your billows
passed over me.
4 aaThen I said, ‘I am driven away
from your sight;
abyet I shall again look
upon your holy temple.’
5 acThe waters closed in over me adto take my life;
the deep surrounded me;
weeds were wrapped about my head
6at the roots of the mountains.
I went down to the land
whose bars closed upon me forever;
yet you brought up my life from the pit,
O Lord my God.
7When my life was fainting away,
I remembered the Lord,
aeand my prayer came to you,
into your holy temple.
8 afThose who pay regard to vain idols
agforsake their hope of steadfast love.
9 ahBut I with the voice of thanksgiving
will sacrifice to you;
what I have vowed I will pay.
aiSalvation belongs to the Lord!”
