Psalms 32

Blessed Are the Forgiven

A Maskil
Probably a musical or liturgical term
of David.

1 bBlessed is the one whose ctransgression is forgiven,
whose sin is covered.
2Blessed is the man against whom the Lord dcounts no iniquity,
and in whose spirit ethere is no deceit.
3 For when I kept silent, my fbones wasted away
through my ggroaning all day long.
4For day and night your hhand was heavy upon me;
my strength was dried up
Hebrew  my vitality was changed
as by the heat of summer.  Selah
5 I jacknowledged my sin to you,
and I did not cover my iniquity;
I said, “I kwill confess my transgressions to the Lord,”
and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.  Selah
6 Therefore let everyone who is lgodly
offer prayer to you at a time when you mmay be found;
surely in the rush of ngreat waters,
they shall not reach him.
7You are a ohiding place for me;
you preserve me from ptrouble;
you surround me with qshouts of deliverance.  Selah
8 I will rinstruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will scounsel you with my eye upon you.
9 tBe not like a horse or a mule, without understanding,
which must be curbed with ubit and bridle,
or it will not stay near you.
10 vMany are the sorrows of the wicked,
but steadfast love surrounds the one who wtrusts in the Lord.
11 xBe glad in the Lord, and rejoice, O righteous,
and yshout for joy, all you zupright in heart!

Psalms 51

Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David, when aaNathan the prophet went to him, after he had gone in to Bathsheba.

1 abHave mercy on me,
Or Be gracious to me
O God,
according to your steadfast love;
according to your adabundant mercy
aeblot out my transgressions.
2 afWash me thoroughly from my iniquity,
and agcleanse me from my sin!
3 ahFor I know my transgressions,
and my sin is ever before me.
4 aiAgainst you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil ajin your sight,
akso that you may be justified in your words
and blameless in your judgment.
5Behold, alI was brought forth in iniquity,
and in sin did my mother conceive me.
6Behold, you delight in truth in amthe inward being,
and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.
7 Purge me anwith hyssop, and I shall be clean;
aowash me, and I shall be apwhiter than snow.
8Let me hear joy and gladness;
aqlet the bones arthat you have broken rejoice.
9 asHide your face from my sins,
and atblot out all my iniquities.
10 auCreate in me a avclean heart, O God,
and awrenew a right
Or steadfast
spirit within me.
11 ayCast me not away from your presence,
and take not azyour Holy Spirit from me.
12Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners will bareturn to you.
14Deliver me from bbbloodguiltiness, O God,
O bcGod of my salvation,
and bdmy tongue will sing aloud of your berighteousness.
15O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
16 bfFor you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it;
you will not be pleased with a burnt offering.
17The sacrifices of God are bga broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.
18 bhDo good to Zion in your good pleasure;
bibuild up the walls of Jerusalem;
19then will you delight in bjright sacrifices,
in burnt offerings and bkwhole burnt offerings;
then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Psalms 103

Bless the Lord, O My Soul

Of David.

1 blBless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 bmBless the Lord, O my soul,
and bnforget not all his benefits,
3who boforgives all your iniquity,
who bpheals all your diseases,
4who bqredeems your life from the pit,
who brcrowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5who bssatisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like btthe eagle’s.
6 The Lord works burighteousness
and justice for all who are oppressed.
7He made known his bvways to Moses,
his bwacts to the people of Israel.
8The Lord is bxmerciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 byHe will not always chide,
nor will he bzkeep his anger forever.
10He does not deal with us caaccording to our sins,
nor repay us according to our iniquities.
11For cbas high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his ccsteadfast love toward cdthose who fear him;
12as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he ceremove our transgressions from us.
13As cfa father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion cgto those who fear him.
14For he knows our frame;
Or  knows how we are formed

he ciremembers that we are dust.
15 As for man, his days are like cjgrass;
he flourishes like cka flower of the field;
16for clthe wind passes over it, and cmit is gone,
and cnits place knows it no more.
17But cothe steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on cpthose who fear him,
and his righteousness to cqchildren’s children,
18to those who crkeep his covenant
and csremember to do his commandments.
19The Lord has ctestablished his throne in the heavens,
and his cukingdom rules over all.
20 Bless the Lord, O you cvhis angels,
you cwmighty ones who cxdo his word,
obeying the voice of his word!
21Bless the Lord, all his cyhosts,
his czministers, who do his will!
22 daBless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.
dbBless the Lord, O my soul!
