24 awFor there shall be no more any axfalse vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel. 25For I am the Lord; I will speak aythe word that I will speak, and it will be performed. azIt will no longer be delayed, but in your days, baO rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, declares the Lord God.”

26And the word of the Lord came to me: 27Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, bb‘The vision that he sees is bcfor many days from now, and he prophesies of times far off.’ 28Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord God: bdNone of my words will be delayed any longer, bebut the word that I speak will be performed, declares the Lord God.”

The Day of the Lord

1 bfBlow a trumpet in bgZion;
sound an alarm on bhmy holy mountain!
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble,
for bithe day of the Lord is coming; it is near,

Zephaniah 1:14-18

14 bjThe great day of the Lord is near,
near and hastening fast;
the sound of the day of the Lord is bitter;
bkthe mighty man cries aloud there.
15 blA day of wrath is that day,
a day of distress and anguish,
a day of bmruin and devastation,
bna day of darkness and gloom,
boa day of clouds and thick darkness,
16 bpa day of trumpet blast and battle cry
bqagainst the fortified cities
and against the lofty battlements.
17 brI will bring distress on mankind,

because they have sinned against the Lord;
bttheir blood shall be poured out like dust,
and their flesh bulike dung.
18 bvNeither their silver nor their gold
shall be able to deliver them
on the day of the wrath of the Lord.
bwIn the fire of his jealousy,
bxall the earth shall be consumed;
byfor a full and sudden end
he will make of all the inhabitants of the earth.
