Psalms 38:1-8

Do Not Forsake Me, O Lord

A Psalm of David, afor the memorial offering.

1 O Lord, brebuke me not in your anger,
nor discipline me in your wrath!
2For your carrows have sunk into me,
and your hand dhas come down on me.
3 There is eno soundness in my flesh
because of your indignation;
there is no health in my fbones
because of my sin.
4For my giniquities have gone over my head;
like a heavy burden, they are too heavy for me.
5 My wounds stink and fester
because of my foolishness,
6I am hutterly bowed down and iprostrate;
all the day I jgo about mourning.
7For my sides are filled with burning,
and there is kno soundness in my flesh.
8I am feeble and crushed;
I lgroan because of the tumult of my heart.

Psalms 78:30-31

30But before they had satisfied their craving,
mwhile the food was still in their mouths,
31the anger of God rose against them,
and he killed nthe strongest of them
and laid low othe young men of Israel.

Psalms 89:31-34

31if they violate my statutes
and do not keep my commandments,
32then I will punish their transgression with pthe rod
and their iniquity with stripes,
33but I will not remove from him my steadfast love
or be false to my faithfulness.
34I will not violate my qcovenant
or alter the word that went forth from my lips.

Amos 3:2

2 r“You only have I known
of all the families of the earth;
stherefore I will punish you
for all your iniquities.

Hebrews 12:5-11

5And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons?

tMy son, udo not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord,
nor be weary when reproved by him.
6For vthe Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and chastises every son whom he receives.”
7It is for discipline that you have to endure. wGod is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline? 8If you are left without discipline, xin which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. 9Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to ythe Father of spirits zand live? 10For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, aathat we may share his holiness. 11 abFor the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields acthe peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Revelation of John 3:19

19 adThose whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.
