Psalms 4

Answer Me When I Call

To the achoirmaster: with bstringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

1 Answer me when I call, O God of my crighteousness!
You have dgiven me relief when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
2 O men,
Or  O men of rank
how long shall my honor be turned into shame?
How long will you love vain words and seek after flies?  Selah
3But know that the Lord has gset apart hthe godly for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.
4 iBe angry,
Or  Be agitated
and do not sin;
kponder in your own hearts lon your beds, and be silent.  Selah
5Offer mright sacrifices,
and put your ntrust in the Lord.
6 There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
oLift up pthe light of your face upon us, O Lord!”
7You have put qmore joy in my heart
than they have when their grain and wine abound.
8 In peace I will both rlie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me sdwell in safety.

Psalms 28

The Lord Is My Strength and My Shield

Of David.

1 To you, O Lord, I call;
tmy rock, be not deaf to me,
lest, if you ube silent to me,
I become like those who vgo down to the pit.
2 wHear the voice of my pleas for mercy,
when I cry to you for help,
when I xlift up my hands
ytoward your most holy sanctuary.
Hebrew  your innermost sanctuary

3 Do not aadrag me off with the wicked,
with the workers of evil,
abwho speak peace with their neighbors
while evil is in their hearts.
4 acGive to them according to their work
and according to the evil of their deeds;
give to them according to the work of their hands;
adrender them their due reward.
5Because they aedo not regard the works of the Lord
or the work of his hands,
he will tear them down and build them up no more.
6 Blessed be the Lord!
For he has afheard the voice of my pleas for mercy.
7The Lord is my strength and agmy shield;
in him my heart ahtrusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults,
and with my aisong I give thanks to him.
8 The Lord is the strength of his people;
Some Hebrew manuscripts, Septuagint, Syriac; most Hebrew manuscripts  is their strength

he is akthe saving refuge of his anointed.
9Oh, save your people and bless alyour heritage!
amBe their shepherd and ancarry them forever.
