Psalms 4

Answer Me When I Call

To the achoirmaster: with bstringed instruments. A Psalm of David.

1 Answer me when I call, O God of my crighteousness!
You have dgiven me relief when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
2 O men,
Or  O men of rank
how long shall my honor be turned into shame?
How long will you love vain words and seek after flies?  Selah
3But know that the Lord has gset apart hthe godly for himself;
the Lord hears when I call to him.
4 iBe angry,
Or  Be agitated
and do not sin;
kponder in your own hearts lon your beds, and be silent.  Selah
5Offer mright sacrifices,
and put your ntrust in the Lord.
6 There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
oLift up pthe light of your face upon us, O Lord!”
7You have put qmore joy in my heart
than they have when their grain and wine abound.
8 In peace I will both rlie down and sleep;
for you alone, O Lord, make me sdwell in safety.

Psalms 90

From Everlasting to Everlasting

A tPrayer of Moses, the uman of God.

1 Lord, you have been our vdwelling place
Some Hebrew manuscripts (compare Septuagint)  our refuge

in all generations.
2 xBefore the ymountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
zfrom everlasting to everlasting you are God.
3 You return man to dust
and say, aaReturn, abO children of man!”
Or  of Adam

4For ada thousand years in your sight
are but as aeyesterday when it is past,
or as afa watch in the night.
5 You agsweep them away as with a flood; they are like aha dream,
like aigrass that is renewed in the morning:
6in ajthe morning it flourishes and is renewed;
in the evening it akfades and alwithers.
7 For we are brought to an end by your anger;
by your wrath we are dismayed.
8You have amset our iniquities before you,
our ansecret sins in the light of your presence.
9 For all our days pass away under your wrath;
we bring our years to an end like a sigh.
10The years of our life are seventy,
or even by reason of strength eighty;
yet their span
Or pride
is but toil and trouble;
they are soon gone, and we fly away.
11Who considers the power of your anger,
and your wrath according to the fear of you?
12 apSo teach us to number our days
that we may get a heart of wisdom.
13 aqReturn, O Lord! arHow long?
Have aspity on your servants!
14Satisfy us in the atmorning with your steadfast love,
that we may aurejoice and be glad all our days.
15Make us glad for as many days as you have avafflicted us,
and for as many years as we have seen evil.
16Let your awwork be shown to your servants,
and your glorious power to their children.
17Let the axfavor
Or beauty
of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish azthe work of our hands upon us;
yes, establish the work of our hands!
