Psalms 43

Send Out Your Light and Your Truth

1 aVindicate me, O God, and bdefend my cause
against an ungodly people,
from cthe deceitful and unjust man
deliver me!
2For you are dthe God in whom I take refuge;
why have you erejected me?
Why do I fgo about mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?
3 gSend out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;
let them bring me to your hholy hill
and to your idwelling!
4Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God my exceeding joy,
and I will praise you with the lyre,
O God, my God.
5 jWhy are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
kHope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.

Psalms 107

Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So

1 lOh give thanks to the Lord, mfor he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
2Let nthe redeemed of the Lord say so,
whom he has oredeemed from trouble
Or  from the hand of the foe

3and qgathered in from the lands,
from the east and from the west,
from the north and from the south.
4 Some rwandered in desert wastes,
finding no way sto a city to dwell in;
5hungry and thirsty,
their soul tfainted within them.
6Then they ucried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
7He led them by va straight way
till they reached wa city to dwell in.
8 xLet them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
9For he ysatisfies the longing soul,
zand the hungry soul he fills with good things.
10 aaSome sat in darkness and in abthe shadow of death,
prisoners in acaffliction and in irons,
11for they adhad rebelled against the words of God,
and aespurned the counsel of the Most High.
12So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor;
they fell down, afwith none to help.
13 agThen they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
14He brought them out of ahdarkness and the shadow of death,
and aiburst their bonds apart.
15 ajLet them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
16For he akshatters the doors of bronze
and cuts in two the bars of iron.
17 Some were alfools through their sinful ways,
and because of their iniquities suffered affliction;
18 amthey loathed any kind of food,
and they andrew near to aothe gates of death.
19 apThen they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
20He aqsent out his word and arhealed them,
and asdelivered them from their destruction.
21 atLet them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
22And let them auoffer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
and avtell of his deeds in awsongs of joy!
23 Some axwent down to the sea in ships,
doing business on the great waters;
24they saw the deeds of the Lord,
his wondrous works in the deep.
25For he aycommanded and azraised the stormy wind,
which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26They mounted up to heaven; they went down to the depths;
their courage bamelted away in their evil plight;
27they reeled and bbstaggered like drunken men
and bcwere at their witsend.
Hebrew  and all their wisdom was swallowed up

28 beThen they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
and he delivered them from their distress.
29He bfmade the storm be still,
and the waves of the sea were hushed.
30Then they were glad that the waters
Hebrew they
were quiet,
and he brought them to their desired haven.
31 bhLet them thank the Lord for his steadfast love,
for his wondrous works to the children of man!
32Let them biextol him in bjthe congregation of the people,
and praise him in the assembly of the elders.
33 He bkturns rivers into a desert,
springs of water into thirsty ground,
34 bla fruitful land into a salty waste,
because of the evil of its inhabitants.
35He bmturns a desert into pools of water,
bna parched land into springs of water.
36And there he lets the hungry dwell,
and they establish boa city to live in;
37they sow fields and plant vineyards
and get a fruitful yield.
38 bpBy his blessing they multiply greatly,
and he does not let their livestock diminish.
39 When they are diminished and brought low
through oppression, evil, and sorrow,
40 bqhe pours contempt on princes
and brmakes them wander bsin trackless wastes;
41but bthe raises up the needy out of affliction
and bumakes their families like flocks.
42 bvThe upright see it and are glad,
and bwall wickedness shuts its mouth.
43 bxWhoever is wise, let him attend to these things;
let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord.
