Psalms 50:16-20

16 But to the wicked God says:
What right have you to recite my statutes
or take my covenant on your lips?
17 aFor you hate discipline,
band you cast my words behind you.
18If you see a thief, cyou are pleased with him,
dand you keep company with adulterers.
19 “You give your mouth free rein for evil,
eand your tongue frames deceit.
20You sit and speak against your brother;
you slander your own mother’s son.

Jeremiah 7:4-10

4 fDo not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’

5For if you truly gamend your ways and your deeds, if you truly hexecute justice one with another, 6if you ido not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, jor shed innocent blood in this place, kand if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, 7 lthen I will let you dwell in this place, min the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever.

8Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. 9 nWill you steal, murder, commit adultery, oswear falsely, pmake offerings to Baal, qand go after other gods that you have not known, 10and then come and stand before me in this house, rwhich is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations?

Micah 3:11

11 sIts heads give judgment for a bribe;
tits priests teach for a price;
uits prophets practice divination for money;
vyet they lean on the Lord and wsay,
“Is not the Lord in the midst of us?
xNo disaster shall come upon us.”
