36 ^gThen Jesus went with them ^hto a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.” 37 And taking with him ⁱPeter and ^jthe two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, ^k“My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and ^lwatch ^{▼▼Or keep awake; also verses 40, 41} with me.” 39 And going a little farther he fell on his face ⁿand prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let ^othis cup pass from me; ^pnevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.” 40 And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping. And he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? 41 ^qWatch and ^rpray that you ^smay not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” 42 Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, ^tyour will be done.” 43 And again he came and found them sleeping, for ^utheir eyes were heavy. 44 So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for ^vthe third time, saying the same words again. 45 Then he came to the disciples and said to them, “Sleep and take your rest later on. ^{▼▼Or Are you still sleeping and taking your rest?} See, ^xthe hour is at hand, and ^ythe Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand.”

The High Priestly Prayer

1 When Jesus had spoken these words, ^abhe lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, “Father, ^acthe hour has come; ^adglorify your Son that the Son may ^aeglorify you, 2 since ^afyou have given him authority over all flesh, ^agto give eternal life to all ^ahwhom you have given him. 3 ^aiAnd this is eternal life, ^ajthat they know you, ^akthe only ^altrue God, and ^amJesus Christ whom you have sent. 4 I ^anglorified you on earth, ^aohaving accomplished the work that you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, ^apglorify me in your own presence with the glory ^aqthat I had with you ^arbefore the world existed.

6 ^as“I have manifested your name to the people ^atwhom you gave me out of the world. ^auYours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7 Now they know that everything ^avthat you have given me is from you. 8 For I have given them ^awthe words that you gave me, and they have received them and have come to know in truth that ^axI came from you; and ^aythey have believed that you sent me. 9 I am praying for them. ^azI am not praying for the world but for those ^bawhom you have given me, for ^bbthey are yours. 10 ^bcAll mine are yours, and yours are mine, and ^bdI am glorified in them. 11 And I am no longer in the world, but ^bethey are in the world, and ^bfI am coming to you. ^bgHoly Father, ^bhkeep them in your name, ^biwhich you have given me, ^bjthat they may be one, ^bkeven as we are one. 12 ^blWhile I was with them, I kept them in your name, which you have given me. 20 “I do not ^clask for these only, but also for those ^cmwho will believe in me through their word, 21 ^cnthat they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that ^cothey also may be in ^cpus, so that the world ^cqmay believe that you have sent me. 22 ^crThe glory that you have given me ^csI have given to them, ^ctthat they may be one even as we are one, 23 ^cuI in them and you in me, ^cvthat they may become perfectly one, ^cwso that the world may know that you sent me and ^cxloved them even as ^cyyou loved me. 24 Father, I desire that they also, whom you have given me, may be ^czwith me ^dawhere I am, ^dbto see my glory that you have given me because you loved me ^dcbefore the foundation of the world. 25 ^ddO righteous Father, even though ^dethe world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. 26 ^dfI made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love ^dgwith which you have loved me may be in them, and ^dhI in them.”

Hebrews 5:7

7 In the days of his flesh, ^diJesus ^{▼▼Greek he} offered up prayers and supplications, ^dkwith loud cries and tears, to him ^dlwho was able to save him from death, and ^dmhe was heard because of his reverence.
