Psalms 56

In God I Trust

To the choirmaster: according to The Dove on Far-off Terebinths. A aMiktam
Probably a musical or liturgical term
of David, when the cPhilistines seized him in Gath.

1 dBe gracious to me, O God, for man etramples on me;
all day long an attacker oppresses me;
2my enemies trample on me all day long,
for many attack me proudly.
3When I am afraid,
I fput my trust in you.
4In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; gI shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me?
5 All day long they injure my cause;
Or  they twist my words

all their thoughts are against me for evil.
6They istir up strife, they jlurk;
they kwatch my steps,
as they have waited for my life.
7For their crime will they escape?
lIn wrath mcast down the peoples, O God!
8 You have kept count of my tossings;
Or wanderings

oput my tears in your bottle.
pAre they not in your book?
9Then my enemies will turn back
qin the day when I call.
This I know, that
Or because
sGod is for me.
10In God, whose word I praise,
in the Lord, whose word I praise,
11in God I trust; tI shall not be afraid.
What can man do to me?
12 I must perform my uvows to you, O God;
I will vrender thank offerings to you.
13 wFor you have delivered my soul from death,
yes, my feet from falling,
xthat I may walk before God
yin the light of life.

1 adBe merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,

3 aiHe will send from heaven and save me;
he will put to shame ajhim who tramples on me.  Selah
akGod will send out alhis steadfast love and his faithfulness!

whose aotongues are sharp swords.
5 apBe exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!
6 They set aqa net for my steps;
my soul was arbowed down.
They asdug a pit in my way,
but they have fallen into it themselves.  Selah
7 atMy heart is austeadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast!
I will sing and make melody!
8 avAwake, awmy glory!
Or  my whole being

Awake, ayO harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn!
9I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to you among the nations.
10For your azsteadfast love is great to the heavens,
your faithfulness to the clouds.
11 baBe exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!
