To the choirmaster: according to aDo Not Destroy. A bMiktam
Probably a musical or liturgical term
of David, when he fled from Saul, in dthe cave.

1 eBe merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me,
for in you my soul ftakes refuge;
in gthe shadow of your wings I will take refuge,
htill the storms of destruction pass by.
2I cry out to God Most High,
to God who ifulfills his purpose for me.
3 jHe will send from heaven and save me;
he will put to shame khim who tramples on me.  Selah
lGod will send out mhis steadfast love and his faithfulness!
4 My soul is in the midst of nlions;
I lie down amid fiery beasts—
the children of man, whose oteeth are spears and arrows,
whose ptongues are sharp swords.
5 qBe exalted, O God, above the heavens!
Let your glory be over all the earth!
6 They set ra net for my steps;
my soul was sbowed down.
They tdug a pit in my way,
but they have fallen into it themselves.  Selah
