Probably a musical or liturgical term
A Psalm of David.

1 O Lord, crebuke me not in your anger,
nor ddiscipline me in your wrath.
2Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing;
eheal me, O Lord, ffor my bones are troubled.
3My gsoul also is greatly troubled.
But you, O Lordhhow long?
4 Turn, O Lord, deliver my life;
save me for the sake of your steadfast love.
5For in ideath there is no remembrance of you;
in Sheol who will give you praise?
6 I am jweary with my kmoaning;
every night I flood my bed with tears;
I drench my couch with my weeping.
7My leye wastes away because of grief;
it grows weak because of all my foes.
8 mDepart from me, all you nworkers of evil,
for the Lord ohas heard the sound of my weeping.
9The Lord has heard my pplea;
the Lord accepts my prayer.
10All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled;
they shall qturn back and be put to shame in a moment.

Psalms 35

Great Is the Lord

Of David.

1 Contend, O Lord, with those who rcontend with me;
sfight against those who fight against me!
2Take hold of tshield and buckler
and rise for my help!
3Draw the spear and javelin
Or  and close the way

against my pursuers!
Say to my soul,
“I am your salvation!”
4 vLet them be wput to shame and dishonor
who seek after my life!
Let them be xturned back and disappointed
who devise evil against me!
5Let them be like ychaff before the wind,
with the angel of the Lord driving them away!
6Let their way be dark and zslippery,
with the angel of the Lord pursuing them!
7 For aawithout cause abthey hid their net for me;
without cause they dug aca pit for my life.
The word  pit is transposed from the preceding line; Hebrew  For without cause they hid the pit of their net for me; without cause they dug for my life

8Let aedestruction come upon him afwhen he does not know it!
And let the net that he hid ensnare him;
let him fall into it—to his destruction!
9 Then my soul will rejoice in the Lord,
agexulting in his salvation.
10All my ahbones shall say,
“O Lord, aiwho is like you,
delivering the poor
from him who is too strong for him,
the poor and needy from him who robs him?”
11 ajMalicious
Or Violent
witnesses rise up;
they ask me of things that I do not know.
12 alThey repay me evil for good;
my soul is bereft.
Hebrew it is bereavement to my soul

13But I, anwhen they were sick
I aowore sackcloth;
I apafflicted myself with fasting;
I prayed aqwith head bowed
Or my prayer shall turn back
on my chest.
14I went about as though I grieved for my friend or my brother;
as one who laments his mother,
I asbowed down in mourning.
15 But at my stumbling they rejoiced and gathered;
they gathered together against me;
atwretches whom I did not know
tore at me without ceasing;
16like profane mockers at a feast,
The meaning of the Hebrew phrase is uncertain

they avgnash at me with their teeth.
17 How long, O Lord, will you awlook on?
Rescue me from their destruction,
axmy precious life from the lions!
18I will thank you in aythe great congregation;
in the mighty throng I will praise you.
19 azLet not those rejoice over me
who are bawrongfully my foes,
and let not those bbwink the eye
who bchate me bdwithout cause.
20For they do not speak peace,
but against those who are quiet in the land
they devise words of deceit.
21They beopen wide their mouths against me;
they say, bfAha, Aha!
Our eyes have seen it!”
22 bgYou have seen, O Lord; bhbe not silent!
O Lord, bibe not far from me!
23Awake and bjrouse yourself for bkmy vindication,
for my cause, my God and my Lord!
24 blVindicate me, O Lord, my God,
according to your righteousness,
and bmlet them not rejoice over me!
25Let them not say in their hearts,
bnAha, our heart’s desire!”
Let them not say, bo“We have swallowed him up.”
26 Let them be bpput to shame and disappointed altogether
who rejoice at my calamity!
Let them be bqclothed with shame and dishonor
who brmagnify themselves against me!
27 Let those who delight in my righteousness
shout for joy and be glad
bsand say evermore,
btGreat is the Lord,
who budelights in the welfare of his servant!”
28Then my bvtongue shall tell of your righteousness
and of your praise all the day long.
