Psalms 7

In You Do I Take Refuge

A aShiggaion
Probably a musical or liturgical term
of David, which he sang to the Lord concerning the words of Cush, a Benjaminite.

1 O Lord my God, in you do I ctake refuge;
dsave me from all my pursuers and deliver me,
2lest like ea lion they tear my soul apart,
rending it in pieces, with fnone to deliver.
3 O Lord my God, gif I have done this,
if there is hwrong in my hands,
4if I have repaid imy friend
Hebrew the one at peace with me
with evil
or kplundered my enemy without cause,
5let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it,
and let him ltrample my life to the ground
and lay my glory in the dust.  Selah
6 mArise, O Lord, in your anger;
nlift yourself up against the fury of my enemies;
oawake for me; you have appointed a judgment.
7Let the assembly of the peoples be gathered about you;
over it return on high.
8 The Lord pjudges the peoples;
qjudge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness
and according to the integrity that is in me.
9Oh, let the evil of the wicked come to an end,
and may you establish the righteous
you who rtest sthe minds and hearts,
Hebrew  the hearts and kidneys

O righteous God!
10My shield is uwith God,
who saves vthe upright in heart.
11God is wa righteous judge,
and a God who feels xindignation every day.
12 If a man
Hebrew he
does not repent, God
Hebrew he
will aawhet his sword;
he has abbent and acreadied his bow;
13he has prepared for him his deadly weapons,
making his adarrows aefiery shafts.
14Behold, the wicked man afconceives evil
and is agpregnant with mischief
and gives birth to lies.
15He makes aha pit, digging it out,
and falls into the hole that he has made.
16His aimischief returns upon his own head,
and on his own skull his violence descends.
17 I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness,
and I will ajsing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.

Psalms 106

Give Thanks to the Lord, for He Is Good

1 akPraise the Lord!
alOh give thanks to the Lord, amfor he is good,
anfor his steadfast love endures forever!
2Who can utter the mighty deeds of the Lord,
or declare all his praise?
3Blessed are they who observe justice,
who aodo righteousness at all times!
4 apRemember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people;
help me when you save them,
Or  Remember me, O Lord, with the favor you show to your people; help me with your salvation

5that I may look upon the prosperity of your archosen ones,
that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation,
that I may glory with your inheritance.
6 asBoth we and atour fathers have sinned;
we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness.
7Our fathers, when they were in Egypt,
did not consider your wondrous works;
they audid not remember the abundance of your steadfast love,
but avrebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.
8Yet he saved them awfor his name’s sake,
axthat he might make known his mighty power.
9He ayrebuked the Red Sea, and it azbecame dry,
and he baled them through the deep as through a desert.
10So he bbsaved them from the hand of the foe
and bcredeemed them from the power of the enemy.
11And bdthe waters covered their adversaries;
not one of them was left.
12Then bethey believed his words;
they bfsang his praise.
13 But they soon bgforgot his works;
they did not wait for bhhis counsel.
14But they had bia wanton craving in the wilderness,
and bjput God to the test in the desert;
15he bkgave them what they asked,
but sent bla wasting disease among them.
16 When men in the camp bmwere jealous of Moses
and Aaron, bnthe holy one of the Lord,
17 bothe earth opened and swallowed up Dathan,
and covered the company of Abiram.
18 bpFire also broke out in their company;
the flame burned up the wicked.
19 They bqmade a calf in Horeb
and worshiped a metal image.
20They brexchanged the glory of God
Hebrew  exchanged their glory

for the image of an ox that eats grass.
21They btforgot God, their Savior,
who had done great things in Egypt,
22wondrous works in buthe land of Ham,
and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
23Therefore bvhe said he would destroy them—
had not Moses, his bwchosen one,
bxstood in the breach before him,
to turn away his wrath from destroying them.
24 Then they bydespised bzthe pleasant land,
having cano faith in his promise.
25They cbmurmured in their tents,
and did not obey the voice of the Lord.
26Therefore he ccraised his hand and swore to them
that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
27and would make their offspring fall among the nations,
cdscattering them among the lands.
28 Then they ceyoked themselves to the cfBaal of Peor,
and ate sacrifices offered to cgthe dead;
29they provoked the Lord to anger with their deeds,
and a plague broke out among them.
30Then chPhinehas stood up and intervened,
and the plague was stayed.
31And that was cicounted to him as righteousness
from generation to generation forever.
32 They cjangered him at the waters of Meribah,
and it went ill with Moses on their account,
33for they ckmade his spirit bitter,
Or  they rebelled against God’s Spirit

and he cmspoke rashly with his lips.
34 They did not cndestroy the peoples,
coas the Lord commanded them,
35but they cpmixed with the nations
and learned to do as they did.
36They served their idols,
which became cqa snare to them.
37They crsacrificed their sons
and their daughters to csthe demons;
38they poured out innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and daughters,
whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan,
and the land was ctpolluted with blood.
39Thus they cubecame unclean by their acts,
and cvplayed the whore in their deeds.
40 Then cwthe anger of the Lord was kindled against cxhis people,
and he abhorred his cyheritage;
41he czgave them into the hand of the nations,
so that those who hated them ruled over them.
42Their enemies daoppressed them,
and they were brought into subjection under their power.
43 dbMany times he delivered them,
but they were rebellious in their dcpurposes
and were ddbrought low through their iniquity.
44 Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress,
when he deheard their cry.
45For their sake he dfremembered his covenant,
and dgrelented according to dhthe abundance of his steadfast love.
46He caused them to be dipitied
by all those who held them captive.
47 djSave us, O Lord our God,
and dkgather us from among the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name
and glory in your praise.
48 dlBlessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!
dmAnd let all the people say, “Amen!”
dnPraise the Lord!
