Give the King Your Justice

Of aSolomon.

1 Give the king your bjustice, O God,
and your righteousness to the royal son!
2May he cjudge your people with righteousness,
and your poor with justice!
3Let the mountains bear dprosperity for the people,
and the hills, in righteousness!
4May he defend the cause of the poor of the people,
give deliverance to the children of the needy,
and crush the oppressor!
5 May they fear you
Septuagint He shall endure
while fthe sun endures,
and as long as the moon, gthroughout all generations!
6May he be like hrain that falls on ithe mown grass,
like jshowers that water the earth!
7In his days may kthe righteous flourish,
and lpeace abound, till the moon be no more!
8 May he have dominion from msea to sea,
and from nthe River
That is,  the Euphrates
to the pends of the earth!
9May desert tribes qbow down before him,
and his enemies rlick the dust!
10May the kings of sTarshish and of tthe coastlands
render him utribute;
may the kings of vSheba and wSeba
bring gifts!
11May all kings xfall down before him,
all nations serve him!
12 For he delivers ythe needy when he calls,
the poor and him who has no helper.
13He has pity on the weak and the needy,
and saves the lives of the needy.
14From oppression and violence he redeems their life,
and zprecious is their blood in his sight.
15 Long may he live;
may aagold of Sheba be given to him!
May prayer be made abfor him continually,
and blessings invoked for him all the day!
16May there be abundance of grain in the land;
on the tops of the mountains may it wave;
may its fruit be like Lebanon;
and may people acblossom in the cities
like the adgrass of the field!
17 aeMay his name endure forever,
his fame continue as long as the sun!
afMay people be blessed in him,
agall nations call him blessed!
18 ahBlessed be the Lord, the God of Israel,
who alone does aiwondrous things.

Book Three

Psalms 127

Unless the Lord Builds the House

A Song of aoAscents. Of Solomon.

1 Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord apwatches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
2It is in vain that you rise up early
and go late to rest,
eating the bread of anxious aqtoil;
for he gives to his arbeloved assleep.
3 Behold, atchildren are a heritage from the Lord,
authe fruit of the womb a reward.
4Like arrows in the hand of ava warrior
are the children
Or sons
of one’s youth.
5Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies axin the gate.
Or They shall not be put to shame when they speak with their enemies in the gate

Psalms 132

The Lord Has Chosen Zion

A Song of azAscents.

1 Remember, O Lord, in David’s favor,
all bathe hardships he endured,
2how he swore to the Lord
and bbvowed to bcthe Mighty One of Jacob,
3“I will not enter my house
or get into my bed,
4I will not bdgive sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
5until I befind a place for the Lord,
a dwelling place for bfthe Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 Behold, we heard of it in bgEphrathah;
we found it in bhthe fields of Jaar.
7“Let us go to his dwelling place;
let us biworship at his bjfootstool!”
8 bkArise, O Lord, and go to your blresting place,
you and the ark of your bmmight.
9Let your bnpriests be boclothed with righteousness,
and let your bpsaints shout for joy.
10For the sake of your servant David,
bqdo not turn away the face of bryour anointed one.
11 bsThe Lord swore to David a sure oath
btfrom which he will not turn back:
bu“One of the sons of your body
Hebrew  of your fruit of the womb

I will set on your throne.
12If your sons keep my covenant
and my testimonies that I shall teach them,
their sons also forever
shall bwsit on your throne.”
13 For the Lord has bxchosen Zion;
he has bydesired it for his dwelling place:
14This is my bzresting place forever;
here I will cadwell, for I have desired it.
15I will abundantly cbbless her provisions;
I will ccsatisfy her poor with bread.
16Her cdpriests I will clothe with salvation,
and her cesaints will shout for joy.
17There I will make cfa horn to sprout for David;
I have prepared cga lamp for chmy anointed.
18His enemies I will ciclothe with shame,
but on him his crown will shine.”
