12 For he delivers ^athe needy when he calls,
the poor and him who has no helper.
13 He has pity on the weak and the needy,
and saves the lives of the needy.
14 From oppression and violence he redeems their life,
and ^bprecious is their blood in his sight.

Jeremiah 23:2-3

2 Therefore thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, concerning ^cthe shepherds who care for my people: “You have scattered my flock and have driven them away, and you have not attended to them. ^dBehold, I will attend to you for your evil deeds, declares the Lord. 3 ^eThen I will gather the remnant of my flock ^fout of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, ^gand they shall be fruitful and multiply.

Ezekiel 34:10

10 Thus says the Lord God, ^hBehold, I am against the shepherds, and ⁱI will require my sheep at their hand and ^jput a stop to their feeding the sheep. ^kNo longer shall the shepherds feed themselves. ^lI will rescue my sheep from their mouths, that they may not be food for them.

Zechariah 11:7-9

7 ^mSo I became the shepherd of the flock doomed to be slaughtered by the sheep traders. And I took two staffs, one I named ⁿFavor, the other I named ^oUnion. ^pAnd I tended the sheep. 8 In one month ^qI destroyed the three shepherds. But I became impatient with them, and they also detested me. 9 So I said, “I will not be your shepherd. ^rWhat is to die, let it die. What is to be destroyed, let it be destroyed. And let those who are left devour the flesh of one another.”
