Judgment on Ephraim and Jerusalem

1 Ah, the proud crown of ethe drunkards of Ephraim,
and the fading flower of its glorious beauty,
which is on the head of the rich valley of those overcome with wine!

10 Like grapes in the wilderness,

11Ephraim’s oglory shall fly away like a bird
pno birth, no pregnancy, no conception!

Hosea 9:16

16 Ephraim is stricken;
qtheir root is dried up;
they shall bear no fruit.
Even rthough they give birth,
sI will put their beloved children to death.

The Lord’s Relentless Judgment on Israel

1 When Ephraim spoke, there was trembling;
the was exalted in Israel,
but he incurred guilt uthrough Baal and died.

Hosea 13:15

15 Though vhe may flourish among his brothers,
wthe east wind, the wind of the Lord, shall come,
rising from the wilderness,
xand his fountain shall dry up;
his spring shall be parched;
it shall strip yhis treasury
of every precious thing.

James 1:10-11

10and zthe rich in his humiliation, because aalike a flower of the grass
Or  a wild flower
he will pass away.
11For the sun rises with its scorching heat and acwithers the grass; its flower falls, and its beauty perishes. So also will the rich man fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
